Artful Mugs

I think the mug is an overlooked art form. Mugs can be used for more than coffee. They are great for soups, puddings and a variety of beverages that can be served hot or cold. With mug-in-hand you are mobile, able to travel where ever you please. Over time I have tried many variations of mug designs and clays while making mugs. I have worked in red and brown clays. I now work with several fine, high-fire white clays - porcelain and a smooth white stoneware that provide a special brightness to the glazes. The mugs found here are dishwasher and microwave safe and contain no toxic glaze compounds. The insides of mugs are lined with a tough white gloss glaze that will withstand the daily use of morning coffees and teas. They are completely safe with all foods.
