Assembling pieces from various parts commands a logic and a plan. Assembled from over ten clay pieces this teapot exemplifies a challenge of clay building. As I built this piece I allowed for the application of metal work. With lugs with holes I envisioned an assembly using stainless steel detailing. In this case the metal work was lineal; using stainless steel rods and mental strips. I found a series of white endcaps that I liked and added them to the piece. In the end this piece became a sculptural statement.  This is what I believe art is all about; Striking out to create new things from ideas and inspiration. Dan.
